Hey everybody. It’s 4th of July weekend. Let’s get outside and do something :) For me, it will be canoeing and fishing. When fishing, it is fun to seek multi-species, three or more kinds of fish, which makes it a Grand Slam. Yes, just like in baseball. It is a term adopted for Florida fishing where one tries to catch a variety of fish in one day, such as Tarpon, Sea Trout, Snook and Red Fish. I don’t live in Florida, unfortunately, but in my short video, I like to challenge myself by catching four types of fish, in my local freshwaters, including Sunfish, Rock bass, Smallmouth and Largemouth.

Also, in my video, I meet a Snapping Turtle that is not afraid of me. At first, he looks like he is dead, very still, but he is just very sleepy and content by basking under the sun.

While Canoeing recently, I experience two wonders. I catch and hold a giant 5 pound Bass (and release). And then, I am so glad I have my binoculars because I’m blessed with a sighting of majestic bald Eagles. The eagles had created an enormous nest as they are soon-to-be parents of baby eagles :)

Happy Memorial Weekend Everybody!

Are you thinking of getting a kayak? Sit-in Kayaks come in different lengths and widths. Shorter kayaks that are about 6 feet long and 32 inches wide may be lighter and stable, but wont have good efficiency. Longer kayaks, as long as 16 feet and 28 inches wide, are not as stable, but will cut straight through the water with great efficiency.

Sit-in Kayaks are popular due to their generally lighter weight build, compared to Sit-on-top Kayaks. However, this type of personal watercraft may not be for everybody because some may feel claustrophobic. Sit-in Kayaks can constrict the legs to a straight position. I recommend you test out which vessel best suits your comfort level by renting it first before you buy.

My drawing shows a Sit-in Kayak which is somewhere in between a short and long boat. To me, it is just right for the casual paddler.

If you enjoy paddling, like me, let me know which watercraft suits your taste. I hope you get outdoors soon, as the weather is getting warmer and trees are blooming. Happy paddling all :)

I am having cabin fever, so I wanted to draw something outdoorsy like this tandem canoe.

The weather will be above 50 degrees in the coming week, in the Northeast. I hope to get out on the water and do some paddling because the outside is my gym. Being active is good for the body and soul.

When possible, I like to paddle with a friend or family member like in this video with my Uncle. (He is the one who inspired me to do Winter skiing and Summer paddling).

What are you going to do when it warms up? Maybe go walk, hike or cycle? I would love to know :)

In case you didn’t know… I enjoy fishing and drawing. I felt it was about time to combine my two pleasures in my cartoon. My characters, who love fresh sushi, go on a boat to catch the big one. To their surprise, they reel in something much bigger than they expected.

Happy New Years everybody!

This is my drawing of a Largemouth Bass. It was a long cold winter, but now it is Spring and he is very hungry.
