With the dog days of summer upon us, it is definitely a good time to get outdoors. My sketch today shows a bass pro angler in action, getting on a lunker of a fish.

Happy 4th of July everybody!

I’m back to drawing another RV, the fourth one in my series. This time it’s personal because my father had this very model by Chevrolet called the Mobile Traveler. The MT was modest in size but had all the necessities for road tripping – bathroom with shower, stove, fridge, a master bed that converted into a dining table, closet space and my favorite spot, a hidden bed area (above the driver). This is where I could look out the front window while dad was driving us to the next cool destination. Good memories.

The Winnebago was a unique looking RV from the late 60’s with its strange polygonal shapes. It continued to be popular into the 70’s and 80’s. The brand was unmistakable. It had a “flying W” logo that stretched the entire length of the mobile home. A more contemporary, cooler-looking version of the Winnebago appeared in the movie Space Balls… with wings too.

I took a bunch of photos in Cape Cod. These are some that make great desktop wallpaper. No HDR effect required. Just pure natural beauty.

Ahh yes. Summer time is here. It’s that time of year when crowds descend on the beaches for fun in the sun.

Personally, I prefer swimming in lakes, where it is not as crowded and I won’t have to worry about being eaten by a shark. Though, the traffic around the beaches here are even scarier than sharks.

I revisited figure drawing this week.  It’s a good exercise for every artist to keep the skill of drawing people fresh, regularly. Even if the only place to find people is in a park or a coffee shop.  It helps with practicing important techniques such as proportions, perspective, shading and keeping a fluid line.
