drawing: sparrow

March 10, 2018

I look forward to seeing the variety of songbirds, like Sparrows, on my bird feeders. It is a calming routine to look out the window. I make sure the feeder is full of seeds because birds are so important to our daily life. Birds keep the population of nuisant insects in check, contribute to the pollination of plants and flowers, and simply make us happy when they sing. My indoor cats enjoy watching them too.

Don’t forget this coming Sunday to set your clocks forward one hour :)

I did a sketch for the office to encourage employees to organize, recycle and tidy up their space. In other words, it’s spring cleaning time!

In a competitive game, it is best to move forward and be offensive, but if your opponent pushes you back, then you are forced to become defensive. In my action drawing, with Nadal as my example, he is literally pushed back on his heels. There are still several moves to choose from, such as a defensive lob to stay in play or as Nadal likes to do, go for broke by hitting the ball down the line.

Indians Wells, in the desert of southern California, just began. It runs from March 12 to 22. Some call it the 5th Major and rightfully so with all the big names it draws.

Just last weekend, I was ice fishing and cross country skiing. Then, this week brought upper 40 degree temps, melting away the ice and snow. I can feel spring is around the corner. I’m ready warmers days (and tennis)! Are you? What activities are you looking forward to do?

What Easter means to me is spring and warm weather.  Today is very mild in the Northeast.  And warm weather means tennis.  Here is my sketch of a player getting ready to serve the ball. Happy Easter!

These are photos I took during the peak of cherry blossoms. They can be used as wallpapers for the computer desktop.  The resolution is 1600 x 1200 pixels.  Feel free to download.  Comments welcome and appreciated.  Enjoy.

Spring is almost here, and so soon the hibernating animals will emerge.  Sleepy-eyed critters, like aquatic turtles peak their heads from the lake, eager to find a floating log and worship the sun. My red-eared turtle models for this illustration, done in digital medium.
