On a nice sunny day, take a trail hike with me to the creek. In the first half of my video, I experiment with a little ASMR-type relaxing hiking and fishing, with much talking. Then the action starts, I use Blue Fox Vibrax Spinner and a live worm on a circle hook to catch Smallmouth Bass. With daylight quickly disappearing, I try my best to catch one more fish, and it ends up to be a new species, my first Sucker Fish!

For fishing, I mainly use Daiwa reels, which is my favorite, but I want to try a different, yet comparable spinning reel by the brand Lews. I test out the new Lews Custom Pro Reel, TLC-3000, paired with my St. Croix rod, to catch my first few bass on the setup. Check out my video to see how the new reel fairs.

It has been a very rainy Spring and on a drizzly overcast day, the fish are hiding from another oncoming storm. As I am tired of waiting for a sunny day, I take the challenge to locate fish, from my canoe/kayak, and end up getting small fish, but it is multi-species fun action! Plus, while on the water, I love seeing turtles, and I get pretty close to an eagle.

Check out my video and enjoy!

Fall time is tricky because fishing patterns are different due to the big drop in water temperature. If you find fish movement is different, then so should your plan of attack too. Keep changing your approach and location until you find out what the fish want and where they are.

I have a slow start to my canoe/kayak fishing outing, but eventually break from my own comfort zone. In the end, I am happy to get a nice Chain Pickerel and some Bass, small and big.

Also, in this video, I meet some carp fishermen and help them get their gear back. And just in time for Halloween, I find a strange-looking Praying Mantis!

As the Summer ends and Fall begins, the water temperature cools, affecting the normal habits of Bass. Bass disperse, perhaps going deep or relocating elsewhere. In this video, I explore the water as a personal challenge, in my canoe/kayak, to see if fish can still be found.

What makes the Ned Rig so successful? The secret is in the short, but fat size of the soft plastic which is perfect, under 3-iinches, for catching Bass and even aggressive Sunfish. Instead of using the rubber worm in the traditional Ned Rig method, I simply put the bait on a weedless Keitech hook and just watch the fish jump on it!

Plus, in this video, I get my first sighting of a live eel. A very interesting looking creature to see in person.

Enjoy and Happy Labor Day weekend everybody!

It is almost spring time and that means fishing opportunities abound. I recently attended a fishing convention and I discover three top innovative lures for Bass Fishing. I also learn the popularity of the Ned Rig from Go Go Gomez, and the effective Dropshot technique from Bass Pro Shaw Grigsby. In my goodie bag, I share a few more finds, I got from the show, such as Jackall soft plastics.

What lure fires up a Bass to bite? Today, I do a mini challenge to see what the fish are attracted to – a small or a big crankbait, both are by Bagley brand. Crankbaits emulate a scurrying fish when being retrieved in the water. I really like Bagley brand lures because they come in bright neon colors. They almost belong in a Mardi Gras parade! And it is a parade for me when I catch a fish :)

Plus, while I am on the river, I am pleasantly surprised by the presence of a rare endangered bird. It is a sighting of a Peregrine Falcon! You may not know it but I am an aspiring birdwatcher. (I have a bunch of bird feeders outside my window. And I like to see if I can name the birds that visit my deck.)

In my neck of the woods, Peregrine Falcons used to flourish before industrialization, living on the towering cliffs of the Hudson River and the Delaware Water Gap. Then, Peregrines were threatened due to heavy use of pesticides, like DDT, that seeped into the rivers, and drinking water, making their eggs so brittle that babies would not survive. Thankfully, DDT was banned in the 1970s and Peregrine Falcon populations are healthier and returning.

The falcon that I see is very big and fluffy, because it is a female, and females are much bigger than the males. In the distance, if you listen carefully, you can hear the babies. I am blessed to capture her on video perched, while drinking water from the river, and in flight.

Check out my short video, and let me know what you think.

Hey everybody. It’s 4th of July weekend. Let’s get outside and do something :) For me, it will be canoeing and fishing. When fishing, it is fun to seek multi-species, three or more kinds of fish, which makes it a Grand Slam. Yes, just like in baseball. It is a term adopted for Florida fishing where one tries to catch a variety of fish in one day, such as Tarpon, Sea Trout, Snook and Red Fish. I don’t live in Florida, unfortunately, but in my short video, I like to challenge myself by catching four types of fish, in my local freshwaters, including Sunfish, Rock bass, Smallmouth and Largemouth.

Also, in my video, I meet a Snapping Turtle that is not afraid of me. At first, he looks like he is dead, very still, but he is just very sleepy and content by basking under the sun.
