One of my favorite memories as a kid was when my father would take us on road trips. This was the cozy little RV (pictured) that we would travel in. We went to places like Monterey, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas. The trip we made the most to, however, was Yosemite (as seen in my previous video post Yosemite – Bike & Camp).

I would sleep and stay in the nook above the drivers seat. When my father started driving, I opened up the drapes. The adventure would begin. The wonderful views of the world passed right before my eyes as I peaked through the top window. It makes me warm and fuzzy again just drawing it on paper, reminiscing about it.

Would you like to take a road trip in my tiny trailer?

Do you have a favorite memory of traveling in your youth? Let me know :)

I’m back to drawing another RV, the fourth one in my series. This time it’s personal because my father had this very model by Chevrolet called the Mobile Traveler. The MT was modest in size but had all the necessities for road tripping – bathroom with shower, stove, fridge, a master bed that converted into a dining table, closet space and my favorite spot, a hidden bed area (above the driver). This is where I could look out the front window while dad was driving us to the next cool destination. Good memories.

The Coachman by Chevrolet was basically their early 80’s van converted into a RV. The extra headroom on top made it possible for you to stand up inside. There is a more modern, more practical Coachman camper, but I wanted to bring back some nostalgia by doing this drawing of a fun classic.

With all this talk about campers, I am ready for summer. Are you?

The awesome Airstream recreational vehicles have an unmistakeable look. Even in the 1930’s when they began, Airstreams were futuristic with the chrome reflective exterior and rounded corners.

Airstreams were used by NASA in the 1960’s to put astronauts from space in quarantine during a time when the world was afraid of martian stuff. Airstreams have such a caché that they appeared in hollywood movies, like in Armageddon, and tv, most recently in the Mentalist, which Partrick Jane lived in for the final season.

This drawing of mine is of a modern Airstream model. It is super cute, being the smallest and lightest model, called the Sport. However, the Sport is not the cheapest of RV’s, coming in at above $30,000.
