It is Spring, finally, and that means fish are spawning up the rivers. I am pleasantly surprised by the arrival of Shad while I am pan fishing. so I cast my Rapala Rippin’ Rap in hopes to catch one of these powerful Gizzard Shads! Plus, I take my pet turtle for a walk in the park to get natural sun, and to see the many blossoming flowers. Check out my video!

what fish go for ultralight rippin rap

For fishing, I like using the Rippin’ Rap lipless crankbait, by Rapala, to cover a lot of water, and I found a miniature version. I take the size 4 ultra-light lure, in Yellow Perch pattern, on a test run to see what kind of fish will chase it. I am happy to say that I catch four different species of fish during my test, including some bass and big white perch. Check out my video!

Also, while canoe fishing, I catch the smallest Striped Bass ever! Perhaps I am on my way to catch more Stripers in the near future.

It’s the peak of summer and what a great time to get outdoors, albeit rather humid lately. I like to cool off by going on the water to do canoeing. Today, I use a strange moving lure called a Scatter Rap by Rapala. Instead of wiggling like a fish, this lure wobbles. If you stop and jerk the retrieve, it actually darts around and gives a different look to predatory fish. Check out my short video of a couple of big bass that I catch and release.

Plus, my cat, Mochi, makes a cameo in the video, where she has a staring contest with a deer, just outside our window, not once… but twice!
