video: are there fish in a dead shallow canal?
February 28, 2022

In this episode of my Bite-sized Fishing series, I wonder if there are fish in an urban shallow dead canal. I toss a tiny jig with a fake worm to see if there is anything down there. Also in this video, I am surrounded by a variety of birds, big frogs and a turtle, enjoying life near the water.

It has been a very rainy Spring and on a drizzly overcast day, the fish are hiding from another oncoming storm. As I am tired of waiting for a sunny day, I take the challenge to locate fish, from my canoe/kayak, and end up getting small fish, but it is multi-species fun action! Plus, while on the water, I love seeing turtles, and I get pretty close to an eagle.

video: a nice variety of sunfish found with depth finder
October 10, 2020

At a beautiful pristine clear lake, which is high pressured with motor boat fishing, I use my Humminbird. The fish finder helps me target Sunfish, some micro-sized, in the very large body of water. I am able to catch a nice variety of species, including Bluegill, Longear, Pumpkinseed, Spotted and Green Sunfish. Plus, as a bonus catch, I get a Largemouth Bass, hiding in the depths.
See how I use the fish finder and check out my video.

video: bluegill fishing
March 29, 2020
Remember when you went fishing for Sunfish as a kid? In my video, I relive that experience by catching (and releasing) the small and aggressive species of Bluegill, Red Breast and Pumpkinseed because it is still fun for big kids too. I use light tackle while challenging myself to catch the smallest sunfish.
