It’s a lazy day at the cabin. The autumn leaves are starting to change here in the Upstate New York mountains. A bit too chilly to go paddling because of a cold front. So I am bonding with my cat, Mochi, and doing a little drawing of her. I have to say that it is nice to get back to my artwork.

I have to say that my cat, Mochi, has excellent eye contact. Although cats don’t show facial emotion as readily as dogs do, it never fails to amaze me at how engaged she is when looking out at nature, through the window and on TV! I just had to draw her as she cordially sits on the dining table to get a closer look at a nature program on the flat screen. You can actually see her in action on my short video (from a few blog posts ago).

My cat loves to watch television. She sits in front of the TV and enjoys watching animals like fish. birds, and anything nature! She also loves to play with turtles. I guess you can say she is a real animal lover! I just had to share these short clips of my cute kitten, and add to the many Cat Videos out there. Because there are never enough funny cat videos! Right?

video: a fishing pole for my cat & pan fishing fun

Whenever I prepare my gear to go fishing, my cat likes to watch me. Not just because there is line involved, but because my tackle makes little clicking sounds I guess. So I make a fishing pole cat toy for play. He likes fishing too! Check out my short video :) Today, I go for pan fish including Bluegill, Yellow Perch and Crappie.

My cat, Mochi is always on high alert. She is startled by the slightest sound. She posed for my portrait drawing while she stared at birds outside the window. And as you can see, she has the biggest eyes.

Yes, I named my cat after the delicious Japanese ice cream dessert :)

To be a cat means having a good life. People love them. People take care of them. In some cultures, people worship them. And my cat is no exception.  I did a sketch of my cat sleeping, enjoying her good life. Even when asleep, cats twitch and shuffle around, which forces me to sketch quickly. But that is a good exercise in creating a loose free-flowing line in tight time constraints.
