sketch: tennis waiting

It’s been a while since I did some drawing. Sorry to my followers who seek my artwork, which is originally why I started this blog site. I have just been concentrating hard on my outdoor video channel, that is my other hobby, being a YouTube creator. But as you probably noticed, I combined by outdoor/nature art with my outdoor/nature videos, under one blog. I am trying to get to 1000 subscribers, and it is really hard work. I’ll talk about more some day if anybody is interested.

Anyway, today, I just wanted to do a sketch of a tennis player. Usually, I draw them in action, but this player is just standing around, waiting for the game to begin. Perhaps it is symbolic, in my mind, saying when are things going to get back to normal?

I hope you all are enjoying this summer, despite the circumstances.

sketch: bluegill

As small as the Bluegill is, this sunfish has an amazing spectrum of colors. It’s like a jewel that is often overlooked and underappreciated from our rivers and lakes. Watch out when giving them a worm while fishing, they have an attitude of a shark!

This is my lazy Sunday sketch. Happy weekend all.

Florida is a haven for exotic wildlife. What animal do you think of when you think of Florida? Perhaps Alligators? Here’ s my drawing of an Alligator relaxing in the mangroves. Does it look like a happy gator?

In my video, I visit the Everglades, a massive preserve of beautiful nature. And since Florida is also known for its amazing fishing. I find a spot to fish. I am ecstatic because with almost every cast, I get a Bass. Meanwhile, I have to watch out for hungry Alligators lurking nearby! The Largemouth I catch are medium-sized. I don’t get the quality big ones, but I do get the quantity.

Check out my video on Exploring the Everglades: Fishing with Hungry Alligators Nearby.

This is part 1 of 2 on my trip to the Everglades. Part 2 will be about some facts on the National Park and my search for more amazing wildlife, such as exotic birds, more alligators and of course, turtles!

This is my first combo-post of my art and video creation :)
(I briefly feature my art in the video too)

Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

I’m feeling crabbie today. Perhaps from being indoors for so long. But it gives me the chance to do drawings :)

The Blue Crab, a regional seafood delicacy, is commonly found in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. In my artwork, I depict the crab as energetic and alive, reaching out for possible food to float by in the strong currents under the sea.

My print is available online. Check it out at my store.

Happy Earth Day and Happy weekend all!

sketch: canada goose

Today, I draw an exciting subject, a Canadian Goose! Okay. I’m kinda joking. We see these geese every day that we are bored of seeing them. Am I right? Canada geese are so prolific, it is easy to find a model for my drawing. Question: Why do we call them Canada Geese if they are too lazy to fly back to Canada anymore?

The plus side of staying at home is having more time to be creative. For me, it is creating videos and doing drawings.

I feel like I tend to be too rigid in my art. So I wanted to challenge myself to be more loose with this sketch. And that makes it so much more fun and freeing! That is exactly what we need at this time, to be able to not over-do it and liberate ourselves from the stress :)

Thank you Mr Goose for making oblong shapes so fun to draw.

Strange times we are living right now. On the plus side, I have more time to draw and to be creative. How are you feeling?

Be safe all!

turtle_on_log_by_al_lau

My Red Eared Turtle is enjoying life by basking on a log, under the sun. All by itself. A kind of “social distancing”, shall I say? On that note, be safe everybody. We will pull through this tough time. My job has closed down for 2 weeks. So I am home, trying to lift my spirits by drawing, and keeping busy. I also plan to go outside and take in the warm sun, just like my turtle!

What are you doing to stay positive? Let me know :)

sketch: green sea turtle

Which animals do you think are the most noble and gentle on Earth? I would like to say one such animal is a Sea Turtle. They are so calm, and they seem to not have a care in the world, and they will see a lot in her 80-year-long lifetime.

As a turtle “flies” gracefully in the deep blue sea, all she wants right now is some scrumptious sea weed to feed upon. She needs to recharge after a long journey across the ocean. My sketch is of a Green Sea Turtle.

What animal do you think of, that is so benevolent?
