In this Halloween special episode, I go paddling with my friend at a lake that is beautiful, but is very weedy for fishing. I try to break THE CURSE of being skunked at this lake before, by using shallow swimming lures, including a mini chatterbait and a tiny crankbait. As a bonus, let’s watch the stunning fall foliage, shop at a local farmers market and go to New York Comicon!

Fall time is tricky because fishing patterns are different due to the big drop in water temperature. If you find fish movement is different, then so should your plan of attack too. Keep changing your approach and location until you find out what the fish want and where they are.
I have a slow start to my canoe/kayak fishing outing, but eventually break from my own comfort zone. In the end, I am happy to get a nice Chain Pickerel and some Bass, small and big.
Also, in this video, I meet some carp fishermen and help them get their gear back. And just in time for Halloween, I find a strange-looking Praying Mantis!

In my latest Outdoor & Nature video, I test out the strength of a 2-piece travel rod by St. Croix brand. Just to let you know, a 2-piece fishing rod is good for portability, but it is not normally as strong as a 1-piece. I get to see if it can handle aggressive fish from Sunfish to Bass to the powerful Northern Pike!
When I launch my Canoe at a river, it is usually uneventful. But suddenly, I find myself surrounded by thousands of Blackbirds. So in the spirit of Halloween, here is my video. Don’t be too scared. Blackbirds are harmless. Or are they?!
