Hi all. Winter is here. I hope you are all are getting outside despite chill in the air. As for me, I am still trying to do paddling and fishing in the cold.
Join me in my next episode where I try to catch something before the lake freezes over. While we are out there, let’s do some aquatic Birdwatching too. Plus, let’s take a look at a Holiday Toy Train in celebration of the New Year.

As soon as a warm day arrives after a frigid winter, I take the opportunity to canoe kayak with a friend. It is early Spring, but is the water too cold to catch any fish? Check out my latest video! Plus, there are Robins exploring the grass, looking for yummy treats. The early bird catches the worm, right?

I got a new rod for the new season, the St. Croix travel rod, and I test it out to see if it can handle a big Carp. Let’s see if is strong enough. Plus, wildlife, life a muskrat and turtles, come out from hibernation! I see a beautiful eagle too!

video: winter canoe fishing before lake freeze, first catch of year & kingfisher sighting
January 23, 2022

Welcome to my Bite-sized Fishing series in the New Year! This is the latest in the winter season I try to catch Bluegill and Perch, before the lake turns to ice. Plus, I get some sightings of the awesome Kingfisher bird while on the water.
This was filmed in the week after New Years Day when there was a warmish day of 48 degrees. I brave it because there is no wind to ruin my canoeing experience. I simply use a live worm as bait because none of the fish were interested in artificial baits, this time.

video: real or fake worm for biggest fish? + the starling migration
November 29, 2020

In this episode of my Bite-sized Fishing series, I only have a limited time to go canoe/kayak fishing before sunset. I try using real and fake worms to catch whatever will bite this late Fall, in this quick personal challenge. Which bait will catch the biggest fish? Watch my video and find out!
Plus, my backyard is over-populated by a horde of migrating Starling birds! There are so many that they start attacking my bird feeder.
