drawing: camping
June 16, 2019
I did a cartoon drawing of camping for my friend’s birthday card. We used to camp together in great locations such as Cape Cod and Cape May. Unfortunately, he moved away which makes it more difficult to plan a trip. But alas, I still love to go camping. My most recent camping trip is to upstate New York. I have the chance to cook on the portable stove, tour a small town, do some canoe fishing and simply breathe the fresh air. If you like the outdoors and camping, check out my short video .Β What is your favorite thing to do when camping? Let me know :)

I haven’t camped for a long while but when I do something similar (stay in cottages), one of our favorite things is definitely, as you drew, making fire and grilling marshmallows! – So much so that those are almost as important reasons to us as getting to nature in planning a trip. :)

Hey Yul. I have stayed in cottages as well, such as in Yosemite and the beach. Definitely try to get out to nature when you can. Its good for soul and a great destresser! ππΌππΌππ Cheers!

What a cute drawing for a card! I camped for years starting in a tent and moving up to a RV. Then my husband and I bought a house on 2 & 1/2 acres and it became my campground. We are in the country with so much nature and we make a campfire on our property. No more camping outside though…too old now! The grandkids love it!

One day, i would love to get an RV, like an Airstream maybe. Sounds like you and your grandkids are really enjoying it! Wonderful. Thanks for the nice comment ππΌππΌππΌπππ

I’m going camping at a cottage only 2km 1 mile North of Upstate New York next month. I hope the chemicals from the other side of the St Lawrence don’t seep into our waters with Trumps laxing of the Environment Laws. It would be nice to do some fishing. Our main fish are Walleye( Pikeral) Bass, and Pike.

Hey Shawn. Im very disappointed with his anti-environment actions also. Does the riverflow travel northward into Canada? I have yet to catch a walleye, but i do love fishing for pike and bass. I hope you enjoy your cottage camping, Shawn! πππ

The River flows From Lake Ontario, North East with one side being Ontario, and the Other side Upstate New York. It then Travels through the city of Cornwall where I live and then into the Province of Quebec where it is entirely in Canada in then Travels through the city of Montreal, 3,000,000 people, and Quebec City, which is very touristy and 700,000 people.. East of Quebec city it becomes Salt Water, and there are Whales. and it becomes a very wide gulf It is weird in this region of Ontario, it is a lot more built up than the American side… Southern Ontario and Western Quebec are very densely populated wheras upstate New York has very few people. I think the biggest town on the American side is Massena, and Ogdensburg which are very small I think Massena has something like 8,000 people or something.

Wow. You are very knowledgeable of the layout of the land. I was in Quebec City one time. It is a beautiful city with French charm without actually being in Europe. And I had my first crepe there. I wonder why it is so built up there, than the American side, as you had mentioned. Thanks, Shawn, for such a detailed description of your region!

Campfires, s’mores, grilling, and listening to nature’s sounds. Oh, and taking photos! :-)
Al, we just had our 8 yr old grandson for a few days, he fished every minute he could, from our creek’s bulkhead and from our boat on the river. It was so enjoyable watching him, especially when he’d get excited and say, “FISH ON!” I gather that saying’s from the tv shows, lol.

Hey Donna. That is a great story about your grandson. Yes, I think he must get the phrase βfish onβ from the show River Monsters. I guess I fish myself to feel like a kid again. Thanks for sharing πππ Also, you mention great camping activites and I do know you well. You love taking photos ππ»ππ»ππ»
