drawing: attack of the pike

I was fishing for bass, last week. When I casted my lure, an aggressive bass took it. Then, reeling the fish in closer, I witnessed an amazing sight. A Northern Pickeral rocketed vertically out of the water with my bass in its mouth. Think of a Pikeral as a snake with fins. Just to taunt me, it leapt up a second time. It all happened in slow motion, and all I could say was “No-o-o-o.” And so my bass became his bass.
